Study in Jordan
The Arabic subject accepted for the equivalency are :
Modern Arabic (Edexcel)
Classical Arabic (Edexcel)
First Language Arabic (CIE)
Arabic (CIE)
The Ministry of Education exclude the Arabs were enrolled in an English language schools outside Jordan for the majority of the scholastic years.
To gain Jordanian Secondary school equivalency with the Scientific Stream the following is required:
Six passing in IGCSE or O level exams including:
Two passing in exams of sciences
One pass in Arabic
Two passes in A- level.
One full A-level or two ASs must be in mathematics or a full A- level in physics.
The other A-level could be a full A-level in any science or two ASs in tow sciences.
To gain Jordanian Secondary school equivalency with
the Literary Stream, the following is required:
six passing in IGCSE or O –level exams including:
One Mathematics
One pass in Computer Studies /Information Technology
Two passes in A- level with the following combination:
One A-level Arabic
The other A-level may be full A-level in any literary subject or
Two AS- level in any two literary subjects or
One AS –level in a literary subject and AS –level in a scientific subject.
Computer studies is considered a science subject at
all levels. Information Technology is considered as
a science subject only at the IGCSE /O- level.
Coordinated Science: for Jordanian Secondary school
equivalency purposes the Ministry of Education has
agreed to equate the Coordinated Science as two
subjects. Students sitting for Coordinated science
should not sit the exams for individual science
subjects (i.e. biology. Chemistry and physic) as
they will not be considered as additional subjects
AS-levels: The Ministry of Education has agreed that two AS subjects are equivalent to one A-level for Jordanian Secondary school Equivalency purposes. To receive an equivalency for a science subject the two AS
Note: Subjects should be science subjects (i.e. AS Biology +AS Chemistry ). If one AS is a science subject and the other is a literary subject (i.e. one AS Math / AS Arabic) then it equals one A-level towards the literary stream. The student should check with the university they are applying to whether they require a full A-level or not.
The Ministry of Education will consider the same subject at two levels as two separate subjects (O-level Biology and A-level Biology).
